STUDENT ACCOMMODATION BLOCKS
National Science Learning Centre

This project has a total value of £15-£20million, we were commissioned by L J Monks M&E Limited, to handle the Mechanical and Electrical design services for 6 student accommodation blocks, and the National Science Learning Centre accommodation block, for use by visiting students and lecturers from all over the world.

The accommodation was made up of 4 x 3 storey blocks and 2 x 4 storey blocks each with 12 rooms on each level. The NSLC block has 66 rooms making a total of 306 student and delegate bed spaces.

The mechanical design services included domestic hot and cold water services, LPHW heating systems, gas pipe work, below ground water service designs, below ground gas infrastructure and the entire above and below ground drainage systems.

The project was extremely successful and the client was highly delighted. The contractor had this to say, “The design stage of a project of this size is critical to its success. Rickard-Green is well versed in this type of work and their designs were solid, practical and workable.”
