ASHRAE Sustainable Urban Design Conferance. In January 2009 Peter Rickard-Green attanded the ASHRAE Sustainable Urban Design Conference in Chicago, USA.

The aim of the visit was to gain a better understanding of the global position with regard to sustainable development, albeit from an American perspective.

Peter attended numerous seminars and technical briefings with “sustainability” as the intended track. It quickly became apparent that whilst there appeared to be the desire within ASHRAE to bring sustainable development to the fore, they were facing a very difficult challenge in impressing upon clients, the virtues of sustainable design.

As a consequence, Rickard-Green Engineering intend to embark on an initiative to take some of the lessons we have learnt in Europe over to America. The potential business growth for sustainable design solutions in the USA is estimated to be enormous and we plan to be part of the solution!
